This warning is a good one! I wonder how many people know about this......
A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago and totaled her car. A resident of Kilgore , Texas she was traveling between Gladewater & Kilgore. It was raining, though not excessively, when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence!
When she explained to the highway patrolman what had happened, he told her something that every driver should know - NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON. She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain.
But the highway patrolman told her that if the cruise control is on when your car begins to hydro-plane and your tires lose contact with the pavement, your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an airplane. She told the patrolman that was exactly what had occurred.
The patrolman said this warning should be listed on the driver's seat sun-visor ... NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY ... along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed, but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the pavement is dry.
The only person the accident victim found, who knew this besides the patrolman, was a man who had a similar accident, totaled his car and sustained severe injuries.
NOTE: Some vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna Limited XLE) will not allow you to set the cruise control when the windshield wipers are on.

Learn something worth knowing about driving in rain.
How to achieve good vision while driving during a heavy downpour, We are not sure why this is effective, but try it when it rains heavily. This method was told by a Police friend who had experienced and confirmed it. It is useful .. even driving at night.
Most motorists will turn on the HIGH or FASTEST wiper speed during heavy downpours, yet the visibility in front of the windshield is still bad.
In the event you face such a situation, put on your SUN GLASSES Any model will do. All of a sudden, the visibility in front of your windshield is perfectly clear, as if there is no rain.
Make sure you always carry a pair of SUN GLASSES in your car. You are not only helping yourself to drive more safely with good vision, but also might save your friend's life by giving him this idea.
Try it yourself and share it with your friends! You still see the drops on the windshield, but not the sheet of falling rain. You can also see where the rain bounces off the road This also works to eliminate the "blindness" from passing vehicles spraying you and the "kickup" if you are following another car, truck or tractor trailer rig.
They ought to teach this tip in driver's training .. it really does work.

What to take to bed with you - not a joke
PUT YOUR CAR KEYS BESIDE YOUR BED AT NIGHT!
Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:
It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it!
It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage.
If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that.
Remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating.

Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef.
It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.
To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of
spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.
For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.
Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste
of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.

Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream. Yummm!

Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.

I'd forgotten about this, but it does work. Mosquito Spray...Worth a try I was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone. A man at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared.. The next year I filled a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around my seat whenever I saw mosquitoes. And voila! That worked as well.. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing water nearby. During the summer, I don't leave home without it......
OUR FRIEND'S COMMENTS: I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly. I bought my bottle from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, and it is a big bottle, too; so it is not as expensive to use as the can of Bug-spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes. So, try this, please. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood door (like your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window frames, and even inside the dog house.

Tacos - forgot those hard crispy shells! Use soft corn tortillas slightly heated and turned in a pan of hot oil. Fold over and drain before filling with taco meat. The key secret ingredient to the best tasting taco meat ~ "pimentos" diced and added to the cooked meat along with the proper taco seasonings. Always serve tacos with plenty of lettuce, tomato, grated cheddar cheese, salsa, and sour cream on the side. Guacamole or sliced avocado is additional topping choice as well. Yum!!
